The base and back struts are quality 40 year pressure treated southern yellow pine and are finished with durable exterior paints or stains providing years of trouble free ownership (typically - the wood used for these products needs to be seasoned or dried to a stable moisture content for two? weeks. Sometimes the lumber is curing when orders are placed so this could be a factor in shipping time). The reason this is done is so the furniture doesn't shrink - warp - twist - crack - etc. once it is assembled and finished. It may seem like a long time - but it really is important for quality!
